Franklin is rich with history dating back to 1799. It was the site of the Battle of Franklin and you can still visit landmarks related to that historic battle throughout the city including the Carnton Plantation and the Carter House.

Franklin, with a population of approximately 48,000, is the seat of Williamson County. As of the 2007 census, there were approximately 17,000 housing units in Franklin. The median household income was $65,506, with a per capita of $32,160.
